Dr. Kerry Burte

Dr. Burte attended Miami University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He did his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society as a junior. He completed both an Internal Medicine Residency and his Rheumatology Fellowship at University Hospital in Cincinnati. During his fellowship, he was mentored by Dr. Evelyn Hess, an international leader of modern rheumatology, and Dr. Jerome Herman, one of the country’s premiere cartilage biologists, in whose lab Dr. Burte excelled. However, he chose clinical rheumatology over research and joined Arthur Kunath to form Tri-State Arthritis and Rheumatology in 1990. Together with Dr. Kunath, he guided the practice to its pre-eminent position in rheumatology in Northern Kentucky and in the Tri-State area.

Dr. Burte was a founding member of the Cincinnati Rheumatic Disease Study Group. In 1991 he envisioned the need to develop better treatments for the rheumatic diseases and to provide access to these treatments for patients whose insurance coverage was limited. He has participated in 117 clinical trials as a member of the CRDSG. He continues to participate actively in the evaluation of patients in research studies and in the identification of patients in need of more effective therapy.
